It’s not easy to present the Convento di Agghielli to you because its qualities are so wide and varied they cannot be expressed in the usual words and phrases that introduce a visitor to a hospitality enterprise.

But we have to start somewhere. So let’s begin by telling you who has realised this dream. There are two of us: Marinella, qualified as a professional accountant, and Dario – the present writer – who is a professor currently engaged in research at the university. We love simplicity, clarity of behaviour and things done well, as they used to be. We have tried to bring into fruition for ourselves and for you a common dream. We are a contented family (with two lovely children at present, Francesco and Andrea) living in a monastic complex dating from the 11th century, in a farm extending over a good 100 hectares (250 acres), in a city rich in history and culture, in a region famous throughout the world for its natural beauty. The resort, after a careful programme of reclamation and restoration following strict bio-architectural, offers an exclusive and refined brand of hospitality. There are eight suites and two double rooms (total capacity 30 guests) endowed with every comfort; two splendid open fireplaces created from their original materials add the final touch to a dining room furnished in harmonious taste; the old Frau armchair in front of the television and the little chestnut bar round off a welcoming warmth you can fall in love with in complete relaxation . . . not to mention the splendid terrace looking out over the hills and valleys with its unforgettable sunsets. It’s a simple environment, but quite unmatchable.

The farm enterprise is completely dedicated to the care of the lands around the resort and to producing the daily requirements of our guests. Certificates from the IMC for biological standards and from Demeter for bio-dynamics testify to the excellent results we have achieved in the field of nutrition as regards fruit and vegetables. Our commitment on the meat front is no less strong: we raise our own free-range sheep, pigs and poultry and acquire red meats only from a certified biological supplier..

Within the resort our Centre for Creative Well-being runs weekly programmes whose primary aim is to teach people to become the creators of their own good health, at home as well as in their studies or at work. Nor is there any lack of possible complementary activities: horse-riding, routes for trekking, and mountain biking, meeting rooms.
The theme weeks fulfil every motivation: good health, exquisite cuisine, adventure.
